Data file for the contact forms used on the website of the Finnish Museum of Natural History Luomus
Visiting the website of the Finnish Museum of Natural History Luomus (FMNH) does not require registration, and we do not collect personal data during browsing.
This data protection statement pertains to those pages of the FMNH website where visitors can disclose their personal data, including feedback forms and a range of registration and reservation forms.

4. Purpose of the processing of personal data/purpose of the data file
Personal data are stored to make it possible to reply to messages received through contact forms and to keep in contact with the senders. In the case of messages concerned with nature observations, contact details may be required for verifying the observation, requesting additional information, etc. Messages can also be sent anonymously.
5. Content of the data file
Visitors can submit the following personal data:
- Name
- Email address
- Postal address
- Phone number
- Details on education and work experience (from the traineeship form)
- Invoicing details (from the guided tour reservation form)
- Other optional information
In addition, the visitor's IP address and the time (date and time) of using the form will be stored.
6. Regular sources of data
All of the data in the file are gained from visitors themselves through online forms.
7. Regular disclosure of data and the transfer of data outside the EU or the European Economic Area
Personal data are not disclosed outside the EU or EEA, with the exception of first and last names in conjunction with nature observations.
8. Principles of data security
Access to personal data is limited to individuals authorised by the controller of the data file. The network and IT devices housing the data file are protected by a firewall and other technical measures. The devices are located in a locked facility under surveillance.
9. Right of access and its implementation
Every data subject in the data file has the right of access to the data pertaining to themselves.
Requests for accessing the data must be submitted in writing in the form of a personally signed letter or in person at the premises of the controller of the data file. Requests are to be addressed to the controller of the data file (see contact details in section 2).
Requests for access are not subject to a fee when submitted no more than once a year (12 months).
10. Data rectification and its implementation
Every data subject in the data file has the right to demand that inaccurate information about them be corrected.
Requests for data rectification should be made in writing and with sufficient specificity: requests must include the data subject’s name, as well as the inaccurate and accurate information. Requests are to be addressed to the controller of the data file (see contact details in section 2).
11. Any other rights
Personal data are not used or disclosed to be used in direct advertising, distance sales and other direct marketing, market surveys and polls, or for the compilation of genealogies and registers of individuals.
12. Cookies
This website uses cookies. Cookies contain information on internet browsing activity which are stored, for example, in the user's computer and can be used to manage interaction between internet browsers and servers. Users have the opportunity to block cookies by adjusting their browser settings.
Website traffic statistics
Statistics are compiled on the traffic on the website of the Finnish Museum of Natural History Luomus with the help of log files and cookies. Visitors’ personal data are not linked with traffic statistics.
