Circular letter September 2016
Dear Collaborators of Atlas Florae Europaeae:
We are glad to inform you that draft maps for the first part of Fabaceae (AFE volume 18) are ready for review. The data on which the maps are based are actual as at 30 August 2016.
The maps can be viewed online through the AFE draft map viewer at http://www.helsinki.fi/~rlampine/gmap/afe_draftmaps.html. The maps are also available as a single kml network file (e.g. for use via Google Earth) at http://www.helsinki.fi/~rlampine/gmap/afekml/afe18_draft_kml_networklinks.kml. Instructions on using these tools can be found at http://www.helsinki.fi/~rlampine/gmap/afedraft.html. The background data for each grid cell can be seen at http://koivu.luomus.fi/kasviatlas/afe18.php.
Summary statistics of distributional records (AFE territory / taxon) are available at http://www.helsinki.fi/~rlampine/gmap/20160830_AFE18_TAXON_TERRITORY_STATISTICS.xlsx.
The status of each draft map is reflected in maptaxa18_alph.xlsx. Records are flagged “complete” if the data have been fully received and require no further editing. If some country records are still missing, a data request is placed under Notes. Particular records may also be questioned or their verification may be required; please check notes in this file carefully for further information.
Please feel free to share this message with other collaborators. All questions or comments can be sent directly to the editor-in-chief Arto Kurtto (arto.kurtto@helsinki.fi) or the secretary Alexander Sennikov (alexander.sennikov@helsinki.fi).
We kindly ask you to revise the draft maps by the beginning of November. This will allow us to begin preparing the volume for publication before Christmas.
Further updates are expected soon.
With kind regards,
Pertti Uotila Arto Kurtto Alexander Sennikov
